After growing up outside in the heart of Connecticut in addition to having been raised at Hawks Nest Beach in Old Lyme as a child, I was bit by the science bug early on. In learning science, one needs to learn math including measurements and conversions. SCSU was where I was awarded my bachelors of science in biology with certification. CCSU came next. It was where I earned my graduate degree in the natural sciences. Within this time, I had taught in both the public and private classrooms for over 10 years. I realized that I enjoy teaching, but on a much more individualized level. I have privately tutored (West Hartford Public Schools) for both middle and high school students this year. I also am a tutor (St. Agnes) for both in-house and out-placed residents. I seek to find how the students learn best and make them feel comfortable giving them strategies to complete tasks on their own. My favorite part, after all this time, is seeing the light bulbs go off when the students realize they can do it!!
