I have just graduated with my M.A. in Russian from the University of Arizona. I have extensive experience acting as a translator for local businesses and individuals in the Tucson community. Most recently I translated business correspondence for a local horse ranch.
I also have two published translations, “Two Views on the Russian Idea” by Ianov and Prokhanov and “Letters from the Country” by Engel’gardt, forthcoming in _The Russia Reader: Culture, History, Politics_. Ed. Bruce Grant and Adele Barker (Duke University Press). This is an anthology of introductory readings about Russian history, literature and culture intended for undergraduate students.
I have two years of undergraduate teaching experience at the University of Arizona. I acted as the Graduate Teaching Assistant for three different general education classes offered by the Russian department. I led weekly discussion sections, graded papers and exams, and held regular office hours. I particularly enjoyed working with students on an individual basis during office hours. I also gave the main lectures for the class in the professor's absence.
My experience learning a foreign language has given me a solid grasp of grammar, both English and Russian. (It might be noted parenthetically that both grammars are related, both being Indo-European languages). I also have an undergraduate major in English with a British concentration, so I am qualified to discuss the literature of the British isles.
