My name is Valerie and I come from a tradition of teaching. I have had a very fulfilling and interesting career all my life and would like to continue doing so. While attending the University of Rhode Island, I worked at the International House as an administrative assistant to the Director. I had an immense amount of contact with students from all over the world and, needless to say, it was a very gratifying experience. Upon graduation from URI, with a BA in Spanish Literature, I received a job offer to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) in Madrid, Spain. I was told by my director at the language academy that I was a natural at teaching. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of teaching and also was happy with my ultimate fluency in Spanish. Over the years, I have continued teaching ESL and Spanish to a wide range of clients in various venues, from immigrant factory employees to BMW executives and to university law students, among others. I have always used the Direct Method, which is based on conversation and pronounciation. This style, I have found, is extremely successful, and, I would like to emphasize, allows students to begin conversing in the first few minutes of class. In closing, I will say that I would love to be your tutor and give you the wonderul opportunity to make learning fun.
Thank you,
Valerie
