Hi everyone,
My name is Emily, I'm 20 years old, and I am in my second year of college at the University of Arizona. I am studying Bilingual Elementary Education and minoring in translation/interpretation (English/Spanish). I have a passion for teaching and am searching for the opportunity to begin exercising my skills in this area.
When I teach, I try to reach beyond the role of simply conveying information to my students; instead, I aim to instill in them a desire to learn and a feeling of accomplishment when their goals are reached. I want my students to know why, and not just blindly accept facts.
I work very well with young children and have a lot of patience. I enjoy the challenge of presenting knowledge in a manner that catches their attention, and their natural inquisitiveness encourages me to come up with new, fun ideas. However, I can also adjust my teaching style to meet the needs of more advanced customers.
The subject I am most qualified to teach is Spanish. English is my first language, and I have been studying Spanish for many years, so I have a concrete understanding of both languages. I believe in emphasizing oral abilities along with vocabulary and grammar to encourage a functional use of the language.
As a tutor, I am willing to work closely with customers to develop a plan that suits their specific needs. I am not teaching my agenda, but focusing on what they desire. Open lines of communication are very important to make sure they are happy with the services they are receiving. Contact me if you have any further questions.
