Hi. Thanks for taking your time to read this bio. My name is Michael and I have been a native of Atlanta since 1981. I work in the IT industry in an academic environment and thoroughly enjoy it. I am offering my services as a guitar, Spanish, Portuguese, and English teacher. As far as music is concerned, I have been playing and teaching guitar for 20 years. I frequently play at clubs and bars around the metro area in the open mic and jam formats. I have one student now and am seeking to expand my client base. I have studied contemporary genres such as classical, jazz, flamenco, rock, metal, gospel, pop, and alternative. My philosophy for learning music is simple: You should enjoy learning and playing the instrument, nothing else. If you don't, do something you do enjoy. I help students to start playing immediately by breaking down the musical pieces that they love into digestible parts. We examine them theoretically so that they can begin to understand music and play it simultaneously.
I speak and teach languages as well. I have been speaking Spanish and Portuguese fluently for 20 years. I have been teaching them for 10. Simplicity is again the name of the game. The key to teaching a language effectively is to show the student how to think and articulate their personal thoughts of their native language into the one that they are acquiring. It just takes a little enthusiasm and a bit of cultural curiosity and you're on your way to being multilingual.
