About Kelsey:

Hello, my name is Kelsey, I'm 19 years old, and I love to learn!

I graduated from Pittsburg High School in 2007 from Pittsburg, Kansas. My GPA was a 3.7, and I received a 24 on my ACT. While in high school I was involved in National Honor Society, Quill and Scroll (President), Spanish Club (Vice-President), Biology Club, Philosophy Club, Key Club, and I was the photography editor of our yearbook. Also, while I was in high school, I participated in Youth Friends, which tutors elementary school students.

Now I attend Spokane Falls Community College, and hope to transfer to WWU or WSU after I receive my A.A. degree. My current GPA is a 3.3, which I intend to bring up because I would like to be accepted into the Honors Program at either WWU or WSU. Since I've been at the Falls I have participated in Service Learning, which allows students to volunteer in the community. I volunteered and had a blast at Chase Middle School helping with their after school activities program. I am enrolled 20 hours a week, and I also work part time at Northtown Macy's (about 27 hours per week).

Like I've said before, I love to learn, and I love to help others learn! I consider English to be my best subject (reading, writing, etc). I am very patient when helping others, and praise greatly when they understand a concept. I work best with younger children, but I am willing to help anyone who wants to learn!

More On Kelsey's Subjects:

  • study skills

Good study skills are a must have for any student. It is very important to know how to manage your time, understand what you are trying to learn, and then being able to retain it afterwards. Having maintained excellent grades throughout my entire educational career, I know what it means to have great study skills, and I know exactly how to present them to others. Up until my first year in college, I had always believed that I had good study skills, but then I actually took a class specifically designed for study skills (English 151, College Reading and Study Skills). I learned so many new techniques that immensely improved the way I was studying! The most wonderful part about the techniques has to be that there are so many ways to study a subject, everyone can learn at their own pace and study a method that best suits them. Some students have difficulty concentrating, some problems with retaining the information being presented, and some just lack the drive to learn the content. I have solutions to all of those problems; with simple practice exercises students will be able study much better than in the past.
