About Lacy:

*Transferring* I adore nothing more than to take an idea that makes sense to me and give it to somebody new! I am a South Korean from Mississippi who is upbeat, friendly, and dynamic.

Do you want to learn something new and have fun?

My undergraduate is in Music Education, and I have also been classically trained on the piano for 18 years. My interests have run the gamut from private piano lessons to dancing/choreographing showchoirs as well as playing in a rockabilly band here in Austin. Or I also enjoyed Algebra in high school (weird, huh). Moving into other things, I've also been practicing Ashtanga Yoga for over 2 years. It's amazing what the body can do!

In the meantime I wait tables at casually sophisticated to fine-dining restaurants, so I'm always talking and explaining. I would love to tell you what I've learned through my life's travels!

More On Lacy's Subjects:

  • general music

General music has always been a part of my life. My entire family is musical spanning from my gospel-singing dad, to my choir-singing mom, and through my two trumpet-playing/singing brothers. The arts were always encouraged in our household. As a result, I was always in choirs auditioned/grouped such as: church, school, showchoir, Baptist choral, musical theatre, college, and show troupes. Through this I learned to sight-read, sing in a group, harmonize, among other musical aspects. So, if you're looking to ever sing in a group setting, I'm well-equipped to help! As well as any other musical request. I graduated with my Bachelor's in Music Education from Miss. College in 2003 which including my student teaching as i danced and choreographed for a nearby high school. During my last year of classes, I eagerly engaged as a permanent substitute at a local elementary school. Recently I moved from Orlando, FL, where I taught private piano lessons for a retail music store. My students were awesome spanning from ages 5-50 and all leaving with a tool for their musical toolbox. When I moved to Austin, TX, I immediately joined a rockabilly/reggae/ska band called Hector Ward & the Big Time to hone my chops. So there's always the rock side of me, too. I love to put lessons into perspective so that students can digest information. Shortly, I love to teach! Please let me know if it sounds like a fit!

  • piano

Piano has been my love for the past 18 years. That's enough time to raise a family in! I have 18 years of classical background from teachers in Mississippi to Austin. My degree is in Music Education and I've taught ages 5-50 in private piano lessons or group settings. I have 2+ years of teaching experience through classes, but I know I've taught more just talking on a daily basis. Through the years I've learned to love classical music and appreciate the emotions that it stirs. My musical background spans from classical choirs to rockabilly bands, and it's my mission to never stop learning. I encourage people to do the same, because we'll never know what's out there until we look. I love when people tell me that they've always wanted to learn to play the piano. It truly is an instrument that can always be taught, and the sooner the better! I agree that it's never too late to learn. Let's get some fingers on the keys and have some fun.

  • yoga

I can remember the first Ashtanga Yoga class I took. The focus, the stillness, the peace...the sweating! From then, I've never looked back and have always considered myself a yoga junkie. I love to do a quick Sun Salutation in the beginning or at the end of the day just to center myself. I started my practice in Orlando, FL, and moved to Austin, TX, to find a more intense group of yogis. I've studied for 2+ years and am working towards my certification of becoming a yoga instructor. Yoga is truly a gift through the centuries for people that find it. I'd love to show anyone what I know to give them a piece of what I've received
