My name is Jacob, and I just recently graduated from Rollins College with my degree in Classical Studies. I started to learn Latin when I was in 7th grade, continuing through 2 AP classes in Vergil and Latin Poetry. I began my college career as a Biology Major, but my love for the Classics drove me to re-declare my junior year. I jumped back onto the Latin bandwagon with more enthusiasm than ever. Two weeks after starting Latin in College, I was asked to be the campus Latin tutor, and remained the tutor for 2 years. In my Senior year I did two independent studies with a professor, translating first all of Catullus' poetry (that's the stuff to make Latin interesting, I assure you...) then Cicero's "Pro Caelio" and "Pro Milone." Vergil's "Aeneid" is my passion and joy, my favorite book, favorite myth, favorite author, and favorite hero. I have an extensive knowledge of Ancient History, particularly of Greece and Rome, though my knowledge includes Ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt. I think the Ancient World is fascinating, and was known around my college as a major Classics dork, having donned Spartan Capes and Lion Skins, competed in Ancient Olympics, lead Rallies, and was co-consul of the Classics Club on campus. Enthusiasm and knowledge of Latin and Classics in general are two things I have in great abundance, and the two things I desire to share most.
