About Mayealie:

I have a wonderful rapport with young people, and have always had a passion for teaching. I believe my enthusiasm for learning, creativity and strong interpersonal/communication skills will make me a great match for you!

I have two siblings, 18 and 15, and I have continuously and successfully tutored them over the years. While I was away at school, my brother’s grades fell to the point where some of his teachers started thinking he might need remedial classes. I returned and started working with him on not just the substantive subject matters but study skills and his perspective on learning. Most importantly, I figured out different ways to motivate him and provided rewards along the way. I’m happy to say that he is now an A/B student. Other tutoring experiences include, volunteering to tutor grade school children in homeless shelters and local high schools while I was in college. I found these experiences very rewarding and I look forward to working with you.

Educational Background: I received a scholarship to attend the University of Akron McDowell School of Law where I earned my Juris Doctor. While in law school I served as a Teaching Assistant and Tutor for Property I & II classes, was a Trial Team and Moot Court member, and served as Mentoring Program Chair and Chapter Marshall for the Akron Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. I also hold a Bachelors Degree from George Mason University in Government & International Politics, and Spanish. I am currently pursing my MBA in Management.

Work Experience: I currently work as the Manager for Government Affairs at a Fortune 100 company.
I manage the day-to-day operations of the Washington, D.C. office and I am responsible for monitoring several legislative issues at the Federal level and the District of Columbia. Some of the issues I have dealt with include: Trade, Foreign Affairs, Transportation, Human Resources, Homeland Security, Taxes, Energy and Aviation.

I also serve as a Government Affairs liaison to the Company’s legal department regularly interpreting difficult policy and legislative issues and recommending solutions on matters of consequence to the company.
