I currently work in the social services field with teenagers, but I am interested in getting back into the educational field.
I have five years of tutoring experience while I was going to college, and after I graduated. I have a B.A. in Religion from USC, but I specialized in math and science tutoring as most of my time spent in college was working on a biology degree.
I am very comfortable tutoring all primary school math and science classes, but I also excel with high school Algebra and Geometry. Because of my college degree I am experienced with Bible studies tutoring as well.
I like to think of my tutoring style as "practice, practice, practice". I like working with flashcards, practice tests and as many supplemental questions as I can get my hands on. I do very well with teaching test prep and have had many successful students using my methods.

• Bible studies

  I have five years experience in tutoring all levels of students within all areas of study, but I have specifically done a lot of work within Bible studies. I went to a religious elementary school and Catholic High School, both of which had a large focus on Biblical studies. I also majored in Religion at USC. In college, my main area of concentration was within Old Testament Studies, which was the area in which I graduated. I have experience tutoring in Bible studies to all age groups as well as teaching Bible studies to elementary aged children within a Sunday school class.

  Much of my tutoring experience has come from a time when I was in college and I did tutoring for elementary through middle school aged children. During this time I did tutoring in English and Spanish in all areas of studies from reading and writing to history and geography; my strongest area is definitely within the sciences and math. My more recent tutoring position led me to tutoring all age groups from first grade through high school. I feel that my tutoring style and experience with younger kids has led me to be a very strong tutor for this age group.

• study skills

  During my most recent tutoring position I taught a lot of test prep including SAT and ACT as well as GED and GRE. I learned how to teach test prep from my former employer and ended up teaching these classes for about a year. My tutoring involves a lot of practice with prep books as well as test taking skills and time management. I also include mock tests to mimic the stress of test day and review practice test results to improve overall performance.
