Hello! My name is Megan and I am excited about the possibility of becoming your tutor! I graduated from the University of Charleston in 1999 with a BA in Communications. While an undergraduate, I studied abroad in France and England. In fact I grew up in Europe. I am fluent in French. I hold a Master's degree in Education. The focus of my degree is Special Education.Professional Background: After receiving my undergraduate degree, I worked as a French and Special Education teacher. I also worked as a proposal analyst for Northrop Grumman; a government contractor. While in graduate school, I continued to worked as a Special Education Teacher.Tutoring Experience: I have served as tutor to numerous individuals, including children, young adults and adults. I have tutored in the following subject areas: French, English, Study skills and SOL preparation (primary English, US and world History, Geography and French). I have also served as a mentor to disadvantaged youth.Teaching Style: I am an extremely organized individual who comes to each tutoring session prepared with an outline of the session and written materials to use during the session. Each session will start with a review of the previous homework and session topics. The review is extremely important as each topic builds upon each other in order to build a strong foundation of knowledge. The pace of the session is controlled by the student. Meaning that, if the student has not mastered a concept, we will not continue on until he/she has a solid grasp of the topic. I always try to make the sessions fun and engaging. I teach towards each students personal learning style and I take great pride in there academic success.I look forward to the opportunity to assist you in obtaining your goals!
