About Jason:

I am currently in the last year of a double-major degree program in English (with a writing focus) and Japanese, so I have extensive experience in writing and everything tied to it: composition, proofreading, grammar, and revision. I work with English and Japanese in academic environments as well as my personal life, and knowledge of each language has strengthened my skills in both. I attribute this to the greater understanding gained from learning not only how a concept works, but why - the same understanding I try to help every student toward.

More On Jason's Subjects:

  • Japanese

I have three years of academic experience with the Japanese language, all of which dealt with writing, reading, and speaking Japanese. My performance in IUPUI's Japanese program has consistently been very high; I was awarded first place in the department's annual Speech Night contest in 2007. I have earned high marks in all of my Japanese courses; my three years in the subject average out to a GPA of 3.48 of a possible 4, with no grade lower than a B. Although circumstances kept me from applying to IUPUI's Japanese exchange program last year, I am more qualified now than ever and feel extremely optimistic about my application this year.

  • swimming

I have a great deal of experience with swimming, both as a recreational exercise and as a competitive sport. I participated in my junior high and high schools' swimming programs for five of the six possible years, and was named my team's Most Valuable Swimmer as a freshman in 1999. In 2001, our coach presented me with the team's Most Improved Swimmer award. Since then, my family has recently renewed our involvement in swimming by taking up coaching the very same junior high team that I started in.
