Hello! I am a recent graduate from Concordia University, Irvine (2008). The focus of my degree included, teaching in a variety of styles. Since learners favor either an auditory, visual or a kinesthetic approach to learning, knowing this and incorporating your favorite style into a lesson, enhances your ability to learn the material – this is my objective! Returning to college after having one successful career in photography, to start another career in teaching and tutoring, has been exciting! While at college, I discovered a great joy in assisting fellow students with their formal papers in the area of content, cohesiveness, proofreading, research and APA formatting. My GPA while attending Concordia was 4.0.With twenty years of photography experience, I have used 35mm, 2 1/4 and long-roll film. Digital technology moved in and I have embraced that technology since 2002. Over the course of this career, I photographed people (weddings, corporate events, parties, high school portraits, sports action, and even autopsies), but my specialty became pet portraits. In this market, I became a published, award-winning photographer. Knowing how to apply Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Word Software skills are included within the territory of owning one’s own business. I created all my own business forms and edited all my own photography images. My career change occurred a little over two years ago when a friend asked me to tutor him; he wanted to switch from using his camera on automatic to learn how to use it manually because he wanted to improve upon the quality of his images. After our first lesson, I knew I wanted to become a teacher and I returned to college! He is a very happy student of mine since his work improved after a few short lessons! Presently, I am working on a master’s degree focusing on adult literacy.Since June of 2008, I have completed a "tutor training" course through the Orange County Public Library. The coursework trains adults how to tutor individuals who have difficulty with the English language (reading, writing and speaking). Some of the tools that I acquired during this training can also assist younger students with literacy issues.
