More On Mark's Subjects:

  • ear training

As a student in college at Oklahoma City University, I began tutoring Music Theory and Aural Skills (ear training) during my second semester of my freshman year at the request of my professor. As well as tutoring outside of class, I would often be called on to tutor during the class period when working on very advanced problems. I was later hired as Professor of Music Theory at a Texas University. This provided me with 10 years teaching experience in this field. I feel immensely qualified to provide my services to students of any age who need assistance in this area of music.

  • piano

I feel it is important for each student to receive individualized instruction relevant to their circumstances. While I feel a person gains the most from a well-rounded curriculum, there is no reason to deny training to someone simply because they want to learn to play by ear and not read music (or vice versa). Every person's unique style of learning also warrants experience from a teacher who has "seen it all". Some people learn aurally, others visually or a combination of both. My background in piano performance and instruction from the past 15 years has prepared me to offer every style of music to every age group. I believe I bring the qualifications necessary to provide that unique, individualized teaching experience relevant to each and every potential student.
