Call me crazy, but I love the nuts and bolts of writing essays and want to help you execute the best presentation of your written tasks that you can do. I have taught English Composition to hundreds of college students, received a teacher-of-the-year award, have very strong evaluations from my students, and I taught poetry and criticism at the University of Redlands. I tutor all grades and appreciate working one-on-one because I believe in the powerful benefits of personal attention. I encourage openness and confidence about what you have to say and your methods to say it, and I won’t force you to be someone you aren’t. As a student, writing was hard for me, but I found out it was necessary in everything I did, including my job as a film editor. I went to Cal Arts in theater and cinema and discovered that much of what we learned had to be communicated through the written word. Giving people the best information in the best order to create an impact is what I loved about film editing and what I love about writing. I received my MFA in Creative Writing from Vermont College so that I could become a teacher, and I approach English, literature, writing, reading, grammar and the need for proofreading with a human touch and not with a big stick. Your success is what interests me and in accomplishing that, we may even have a lot of fun.
