About
Elyse: |
|
I provide students with fun and individualized tutoring that provides results!
I am currently a student at El Camino College with a major of liberal studies. My goal is to transfer to California State University Long Beach to complete my degree and credential. My career goal is to become an elementary school teacher.
I have been a tutor for many years and have previously worked for Score! Educational Centers.
My teaching philosophy and style is centered around academic fun. I individualize all lessons and I always communicate progress with parents. Concepts and skills are more likely to be memorized in a fun and interactive environment.
I incorporate color, stickers, and art into my lessons to provide a more welcoming and interactive environment.

study skills
|
As a current college student, I understand the importance of establishing strong study skills early on. These skills that are learned in school are vital to creating a well organized life and carrer after graduation.
The first step to strong study skills is to create a planner or calendar to track what needs to be done and when. The planner or calendar must be easy to use and fit needs of the student.
Goals are also incredibly important for good study skills. Goals help a student stay on track and constantly evaluate their performance in multiple aspects of their lives.
From there, we will discuss multiple other topics such as memory retention, motivation techniques, stress relief, understanding your learning style, note-taking techniques, test taking skills, and many other subjects!
I cater to the needs of my students. I create a workbooks and a plan to help the student improve. With strong study skills comes better grades.
