I have been working as a private tutor for four years, and I have been a parent for 16 years, so I am very comfortable with youngsters from elementary to high school. I have also worked with several college students. I have prepared students to take the Catholic high school admission exams, the SAT and SAT II tests in English and Writing, the AP English Language and AP English Literature tests, and the HSPA in the areas of grammar, vocabulary, and composition. Assisting college students with papers (NOT writing them), and providing remedial help for elementary age students are also areas I can assist with. I am a cum laude graduate of Barnard College, and hold a master's degree from Columbia University. I had a 15-year career in development and public relations prior to leaving the workface to raise a family; now I enjoy tutoring young people and seeing their abilities and confidence grow.

  I have worked with elementary age students as a private tutor for the past several years, primarily to help them catch up to grade level work in writing, reading, and general study skills. I have taught students how to take notes from a textbook, how to organize notebooks and homework, and how to remember what to bring home each day. If children learn how to manage their schoolwork at this young age, they will not become overwhelmed in middle or high school.
