About Miho:

I am a pianist/teacher graduated from UCO with Masters of Music as the first official student of Artist-in-Residence pianist Valery Kuleshov. I love to help young musicians to explore the world of music. I have experiences in teaching music for individuals with special needs, and my students love spending time with me, playing the piano.
In addition, I am a native Japanese (with good English commands, of course), so I would love to help students who want to learn this special language.

More On Miho's Subjects:

  • ear training

My professional music study began at the University of North Texas, studying piano under Dr. Steven Harlos (principal pianist of the Dallas Symphony), and played several times for master classes by Maestro Vladmir Viardo. After I moved to Oklahoma due to the health issue of my in-law family, I became the first piano major who passed the audition to study under Valery Kuleshov, Artist-in-Residence of UCO. I graduated with Master of Music in Piano Performance with honors in May, 2008. Throughout my collegiate years, I completed all the theory and ear training programs with the highest grades, and I've been helping my piano students for their understanding of musical concepts using various theory/ear training programs. With my little help, they all learn basic musical concepts and develop listening skills with ease.

  • sight singing

Also, I've been serving as a choir accompanist, helping singers to learn new repertoire with ease. I will be able to help students of all level to further their sight singing skill.

  • special needs

While working on my Master of Music degree from the University of Central Oklahoma, I have been serving as a music teacher for children and adults with developmental disabilities for 3 years, and I know what it takes to teach students with special needs. I believe music lessons will be a great benefit for those who generally love music, and with the rapport developed throught the music lessons, the student will be ready to learn other subjects with me. I was a pediatrician before getting married, so I understand each student's medical problems; which will be a great advantage for students with special needs.
