About John:

I graduated from Columbia College (NY) magna cum laude (GPA 3.86) with degrees in Russian and Linguistics. Throughout my life I have excelled in math and the hard sciences (receiving 5's on the Calculus AB/BC, Physics B/C and Chemistry AP tests in high school). When both studying and teaching these subjects I place an emphasis on a complete understanding of the concepts at hand through extensive exercises and multiple ways of looking at the problems. I have studied Russian and Hungarian in depth, as well as some Spanish, Chinese, French and Georgian. (Currently I am teaching myself Georgian in preparation for a proposed Fulbright project.) While living in Russia I taught ESL, and I have always been known among my friends as the linguistics major to whom one may solicit help on math homework. I seek excellence and love to both teach and learn.
