About Basma

Hi,
My name is Basma and I have a M.S degree in Biomedical engineering and I am starting my PhD in Systems Neuroscience at New York University in the fall.

I am excellent in Maths due to my engineering background in grad school. Since I majored in Neural Science as an undergraduate in New York University, teaching biology is a pleasurable task for me. I used to major in chemical biology before switching to Neural science ( in my junior year as a college student) therefore I am an excellent tutor in general chemistry.
Actually, I was so good in chemistry to the point of getting an award for outstanding performance.

Regarding languages, I was born in Egypt. So, I am a native Arabic speaker. I will gladly help anyone learn Arabic and will do my best to make it easier for him.
I also attended a French school in Egypt from KG till high school, so my french is near native level.
I will happily help anyone who would love to learn French.

My teaching style is usually by trying to answer any questions you have in Maths or Sciences. We should do together A LOT of practise problems and make sure you master them very well. I should also make sure that you are able to answer any other questions on your own later.

For languages, I would definitely concentrate most of my effort on making you mastering the pronunciation, grammar and develop your vocabulary. We should write some small essays together and I will definitely speak MOST of the time in the foreign language to force you to learn it.

I am a native Arabic speaker, born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt. I moved to the US in 2001. I speak formal and colloquial Arabic fluently. I master the rules of the Arabic grammar. I also learnt classical and modern Arabic literature. I believe I strongly qualify for this job as an Arabic tutor due to my background. I will be pleased to teach you know how to acquire the Arabic accent. I am very excited about teaching the language that I love. Besides teaching, I would help you explore the Arabic culture in NYC. There are a lot of events that happen from time to time like movie screenings, concerts and my tutoring experience can easily extend to that if you would love. My knowledge of the history of the Middle Eastern Region is quite strong, so feel free to ask me any time. Besides teaching, I am starting my PhD in Neural Science at New York University. I have a M.S degree in Biomedical engineering and B.S in Neural Science from New York University. So I have been in Academia for quite some time and I definitely know how to be a good teacher. Good Luck and Looking forward to working with you and making your learning experience pleasurable.
