About Kathy:

My students always improve. For decades, I have been able to match curriculum and delivery style to the learners styles. This took a big "bag of tricks" which I have learned teaching all types of students from many cultures through decades. More importantly, I am able to empower the student to learn other styles and become a more efficient and well-rounded learner. There is not an age of student I have not taught. I love learning and I seem to be able to instill that in students who come back for after school enrichment classes and who matriculate from my reading or learning disability classes and go on to succeed. For example 88% of my reading students after one semester were reading at or above grade level. All of my 144 English Language Learners (students who first learned a language or languages other than English) made or exceeded the Annual Yearly Objective Performance required my federal and state law. More importantly, many passed the Washington Assessment of Student Learning and several went on to complete college degrees. ALL graduated High School if they stayed in my district. My motto is "All students can learn" and it is up to me to motivate them and find the way. My most recent principal has the motto "Whatever it takes." I prescribe to that while keeping high morality.
