Individualized Tutoring Available in the North Seattle Region
About Me: An intelligent, caring, and very patient University of Washington Graduate (GPA 3.75) who is pursuing a career in teaching and education. I am experienced with kids and youth ages 5-18 and have tutored in after-school centers and classroom settings.
My Approach: Tutoring is not about how great I am at math spreadsheets or filling in bubbles on my GREs! It is about the student! My job is to help the student feel confident, capable, and comfortable with their homework and themselves. I practice an inquiry-based approach to tutoring: I ask questions, not give answers. I act as a guide and as a non-judgmental reflector of the student’s ideas and opinions. Especially in math, I help by clarifying the directions and working with the student to come to an understanding of both the problem and the answer. I am interested in long-term strategies for learning!
Areas:
- Writing - I love to help students write papers! Coming up with original ideas and laying them out in a clear, organizational manner is one of my favorite subjects to teach.
- Reading – Early literacy reading strategies and practice.
- Math – mostly elementary, but I am currently helping someone with trigonometry so… I am open to exploring the possibilities here.
- Spanish – I am a fluent conversationalist and can help with grammar rules, sentence construction, and test prep… (I graduated in Latin American Studies and have traveled extensively in Latin America)
- General homework help – let’s lay it out on the table and see what happens!
I am more experienced with k-8, as this will be my endorsement focus, but am flexible and open to every student and family!
We can meet at your home or in a local coffee shop. Any other ideas are welcome as well.

This is the area I want to teach! I have the most experience tutoring k-5 and love every minute of it! I am currently studying for both the Praxis Exam in Elementary Education as well as the West B exam for teacher certification in Washington State.
