About Rebecca

Hi there,

I am an experienced English as a Second Language Teacher with a Master's Degree in this subject. I have taught ESL in colleges, universities and private language schools in all subjects (conversation, TOEFL prep, grammar, etc.) and at all levels (beginning through advanced) many times. I have also tutored many students. In addition, I was the academic coordinator for a company with 11 ESL schools in the U.S. and England. I developed curriculum and insured the proper implementation of it at all the schools.

Now that I have children, I have scaled back my work outside the home, but would like to begin tutoring again a few hours a week.

More On Rebecca's Subjects

  • ESL/ESOL

In addition to tutoring several students in ESL subjects from 1996-2004, most of my experience has been in the classroom and is described below. My most recent position was the Director of Academics, Curriculum and Accreditation Operations at a network of 11 ESL schools in the U.S. and England (Internexus). I oversaw the development and implementation of both a new curriculum in the 11 schools, as well as a set of new standard operating procedures in accordance with the accreditation process which I was spearheading. In addition to these duties, I taught ESL at Internexus at all levels and in all subjects (reading/writing, listening/speaking, grammar, TOEFL prep, culture, etc.). Before that, I was a full-time ESL Instructor at the Intensive English Program (IEP) at California Baptist University, where I was also the Assistant Director. While earning my TESL MA at Brigham Young University (1998), I taught ESL at their ESL training IEP. After earning my TESL Certificate (1996), I continued working at BYU's IEP and also taught ESL at Utah Valley State College, where I was awarded the favorite instructor honor. From 1996 to 2004, I also taught evening courses to the ESL learners in the community. I have taught all levels several times (beginning to advanced), all subjects (reading, writing, grammar, conversation, test prep, culture, etc.) and diverse communities of learners from college-bound international students to homogenous immigrant groups within the communities where I lived, to weekly ESL conversation courses in Paris, France. I have an MA in TESL from Brigham Young University (Utah; 1998) and a BA in English Literature.
