About Ingrid:

My name is Ingrid and I am an American who moved to Germany as a teenager, went to the German Gymnasium and Uni, and worked there as an ESL instructor and nurse for a total of 20 years. I returned to the states 10 years ago and have been teaching German at local colleges ever since. I taught at Thiel for 5 years and am currently teaching Intermediate German at Westminster college in New Wilmington, PA. To make a long story short, the German program was dying and I have managed to keep it going for 5 years. I am not a typical professor. I love to make things simple so students understand and I believe I am blessed with a natural gift to do so. I know the difficulties English speakers encounter, because I went through them myself and I know alot about the culture-things you cannot learn through books alone. I love students who ask questions and I also tend to work on reducing anxiety of making mistakes. Currently I am working on obtaining a US teaching degree in German so that i can be employed at US high schools as well. As for my teaching style I believe that the German method is much more efficient which consists of drilling, essay writing and role play. I usually ask students what works best for them and try to be very flexible. I look forward to being your tutor and hope to hear from you soon.
