ESL/ESOL I grew up in South Florida, where the convergence of language and culture has been a part of our everyday lives for many years. As a graduate teacher at the university level, I often tutored ESL students in English composition and grammar. Additionally, as a PhD candidate in linguistics, I not only have a meta-understanding of language, how it works and how it is acquired, but I have also taught Masters students in Education how to best instruct ESL students. grammar As a teacher at the University level, I have taught many courses on English composition--focusing on everything from writing style to route grammar. I have also served as an editor and as an Editor and Cheif for scholarly journals. In that capacity, my responsibilities primarily involved shepherding authors--both native English speakers and non-native English speakers--throughout the entire editorial process. Obviously, this involved close attention to grammar.
