About Heather

I have tutored several students from elementary - high school age, mainly in reading, writing, and composition. My approach with students is to first get to know the student, what subjects they enjoy, and what their frustrations are with certain areas.
If we are working through homework, I may start first with some fun mind exercises to get them engaged and focused. I will progressively challenge them to improve their grammar or whatever skills they need to be successful in a specific subject. I will always expect their best and I know that it takes patience to bring that out of them. I am the oldest of eight children so I can relate to all ages of children.
While I've always been a good student, I did have my challenges in school and I remember those teachers which took the time to help me. Lastly, I will expect to communicate with the parents and teacher regarding the student's progress.
