About Jennifer:

I recently graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in International Relations with a specialization in Western European Studies. I just moved to the DC area to pursue my interest in working in Migration and Refugee services in the non-profit sector.

I love to travel and learn other languages and have a lot of experience working with students from many other cultural and language backgrounds. I used to tutor refugee teens in Lansing, MI in all subjects including ESL. I also helped adults with english language skills. I also taught dance (ballet, tap and jazz) for three years to all ages of students. I want students to enjoy the subjects they are learning so I try to make it as fun as possible while also building necessary skills and techniques to make it easier to maintain what they learn.

I have had a lot of experience tutoring in ESL while working in the refugee services area. I would work with refugee students on any type of school work they needed help on. But before we could even work on the material we needed to work on their english skills as they could not even read their textbook. For an internship I assisted in refugee resettlement. At the office there was an ESL class held a few times a week of which I was able to sit in on and assist in from time to time.
