About

Hi!
My name is Alaina, and I'll be a junior at Mercer University. I am a Spanish major, and Biochemistry minor, hoping to one day use my second language while working in medicine. I love to travel and speak Spanish wherever I can, however, I know students can feel uncomfortable speaking the language to others in the beginning, and though I feel it's important to learn through reading, writing, listening AND speaking, there are plenty of ways to boost confidence to speak a new language without the pressure! At Mercer, I'm usually the person students go to when they are overwhelmed, or have to learn a lot of information in a short amount of time. It's stressful and frustrating!! Because of that, I have a way of studying that never fails, and actually hold study groups as a supplemental instructor for classes people struggle in. Lastly, I have a seven year old sister and am used to working with young children in all subjects. I would love to be of help if necessary, so if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me! :D

Being a tutor since my early high school years, I am accustomed to helping people of all ages below me, to excel in subjects they have difficulty in. As a big sister to a seven year old, I've aquired a knack to help younger children understand subjects better, since they have a different thinking process. Throughout college, I've tutored many young students in both elementay school and middle school, and have received multiple reccomendaitons from each of their parents. When I'm not in school, I also tutor my little brother from Big Brother's Big Sister's of America. One knows if they are able to help others in a certain subject, and with my experience, I am more than confident that I can help any child excel in a short amount of time.

Part of being a good tutor is helping students find their own way of making learning and studying easier for them. As a junior in college, I've had to rely on my own study tricks to keep me from struggling during hectic exam schedules, so I could learn the information in a short amount of time, without becoming overwhelmed. My peers continuously notice my tactics and often ask for advice in making school easier for them, as well. Their positive feedback has led me to become a supplemental instructor in subjects that college students struggle most in, and I hold study skills sessions every week during the academic year. I would love to share some of my study tricks to help people learn in an easier manner.
