I am currently a student at the Dublin Institute of Technology in Dublin, Ireland my major is music specifically Irish Traditional music. I am home for the summer here in Oregon. I have two years of college music theory classes, one year at Simon's Rock College of Bard in Mass. and one at DIT. I have been playing the Bass Guitar for about seven years although I am now more focused on playing the Irish Traditional Flute and the Mandolin (Wyzant does not offer these instruments) I still know my way around the instrument. I have two summers' experience teaching the bass at a camp called Summer Music Programs in Bryn Mawr, PA. due to my location this summer I am not able to teach there again this year. As far as musical genres on the bass I do Rock, Jazz, and Blues. I have never had formal experience teaching theory, but my friends always came to me with questions because I understand the material. I look forward to meeting and teaching students. |

I have been playing the Bass for about seven years. I have played in multiple different bands and done various gigs over that period of time. I have some teaching experience as I worked at a music camp the past two summers called Summer Music Programs located in Bryn Mawr, PA. This involved playing in bands with the campers, teaching them the music, recording a short CD, and a live performance. There were different bands each week so I rarely worked with the same campers twice. I am comfortable teaching beginner and intermediate players in Rock, Jazz, and/or Blues.

general music

Music has been a big part of my life for the past seven years. Since then I have learned to play multiple different instruments including Bass, Irish Flute, Mandolin, basic Piano, and the Bassoon. I can read all the clefs treble, bass, and the c clefs well. I played in the school band while in Middle and High School plus the Jazz Ensemble at Simon's Rock College when I was a student there and currently the Traditional Ensemble at the Dublin Institute of Technology. I have two years of college courses in Music theory and can pick up any tune by ear. I have no formal teaching experience in this area only helping friends taking the same classes as me or classes I have already taken. I am comfortable teaching any level of General music.

music theory
|
Studying the theory of music is important to any musician. That is why I have taken an interest in it myself. I have taken two years of college courses on the subject, one at Simon's Rock College of Bard and one at the Dublin Institute of Technology I have always had a good handle on the material. This past year I had some of the highest grades in my music theory based classes and was constantly praised by the teachers. I am very solid when it comes to voice leading, four part harmony, and counterpoint which are usually used as exercises for theory students. I have no formal teaching experience in theory, but being one of the strongest in my class I was often asked by other students for help. I would be comfortable teaching music theory at a beginner's level.
