I graduated with my BA in sociology and a minor in Spanish from Pacific Lutheran University in 2008. Although sociology is not often taught in secondary schools, it is a helpful subject to know. Sociology is the study of society, which to understand why and how society functions the way it does can provide tools to help with the daily interactions with individuals and institutions. I am able to teach many sociological topics, such as sex, gender, social problems, the family, juvenile delinquency, race and ethnicity, and the sociological perspectives.
Spanish has been one of my passions for 6 years. I love teaching every aspect about the Spanish language to others.I am able to teach how to speak, read, write and understand Spanish. To me, Spanish is fun and it creates an opportunity to interact and understand individuals from Spanish-speaking countries. Although I did not receive my BA in Spanish, I did take many upper divisions Spanish courses and have a desire to learn more Spanish and to teach it to others. I taught Spanish to an elementary school-aged child for several months also.
For 7 years, I played the trumpet in school and came to respect music and musicians very much. I am able to teach how to play the trumpet and I am also able to teach how to read music for many other instruments.
Soccer has become more popular in the United States in the past few years and I am glad to see this. I love soccer. I grew up on soccer and still to this day, play soccer whenever the opportunity arises. I played soccer for 10 years and have had the honor of being a State champion two years in a row. I played varsity soccer in high school and I also played for a select soccer team. I am able to teach the principles of soccer and to make the sport a fun way to learn healthy competition, bonding and physical activity. I taught soccer for several months to elementary school-aged children. |

I played soccer from the age of 8 to 18 years old. I was on three teams, a club team, a select team and a high school team. My select soccer team won state twice in a row while I was playing and my high school team went to the State playoffs my senior year. I lettered in soccer my junior year and was the captain of the junior varsity team my sophomore year in high school. I taught soccer for one month to third graders in 2005 at Harvard Elementary school during an after school program. I know the principles of soccer, the rules, the positions and techniques. I believe I would be able to coach soccer in a way that a child learns the sport in an atmosphere that is fun and supportive.

I started playing trumpet in the 5th grade and continuted until my 11th grade year in high school. I was in the school band throughout those years and my high school band was invited to perform in Disneyland,CA. I received a varsity letter for my participation and dedication to my high school band. I also performed in many concerts and pep rallies. I know how to read and play music on the trumpet. I am able to teach others how to play the trumpet through teaching them how to read notes, count time and the techniques of playing trumpet.
