I am a recent high school graduate of Amherst Central High School. I was an ambitious student all throughout high school and have been involved in an array of activities inside and out of school. I was a Varsity athlete for gymnastics from sixth grade until my senior year. I have been involved in musicals, especially the production, since middle school and have excelled enough to be involved in the Kenny Awards at Shea's Performing Arts Center and receive a scholarship for college. I have been involved in club, such as, Environmental Awareness Club, Writer's Guild, Service Club, and Sign Language Club. I have participated in the Student Government as well. I am extremely dedicated to helping the community, especially with literacy and tutoring. I was the peer tutoring manager for my school this year for National Honors Society. Also, I did my required community service at Journey's End Refugee Services in which I tutored English to refugee children and mothers from all over the world. I raised the money to go to Costa Rica to do 100 hours of environmental volunteer work and wish to dedicate myself to helping the community in the future. In order to prepare for this trip, I took college level Spanish in high school to make my language skills the best they could be before I departed. This year I continued Spanish, and received ECC credit for Spanish class.
In terms of my style, it all depends on what I am teaching but I try to take some basic approaches until I understand the style that would be most helpful to the student's needs and desires. Although I am young, I would be a perfect candidate to anyone's needs who are younger or around my age. I have taken college level courses since my sophomore year, so I believe my age will not hinder my dedication to any student I would encounter.
Also, this summer I am hoping to tutor in order to improve my skills as a tutor as help as well the student because there is always room for improvement. |
