Having worked as both a private and public math tutor, I've learned that everyone is capable of seeing the beauty and power of mathematics. My personal teaching philosophy is based on this idea. Like many other relationships, I believe a the tutor-client relationship is based on communication and trust. Therefore, first and foremost, I listen to my clients. I understand math can be frustrating, and that for many of us, meeting arithmetic or algebra or calculus can be a source of fear. I promise to listen to your thoughts on math, and to share my knowledge with you in a personal and sincere manner. My goal with each of my clients is that after a session, they not only understand the topic at hand, but have also seen a small bit of the beauty that I see in mathematics. |
