Adam's Subjects:
Bible studies
I attended private Christian schools for elementary, middle, and high school. I took Bible courses each year throughout my childhood education.
When I attended Indiana Wesleyan University for by undergraduate studies, I received a degree in Intercultural Studies as well as Biblical Literature. Most of my coursework consisted of studying and wirint papers on specific books of the Bible, as well as selected topics contained in those books.
From my undergraduate work, I have many papers and resources left over that I would love to be able to use to help someone else learn what I was able to learn.
I am currently getting involved with the counseling ministry at my local church, which involves a lot of Bible reading and memorization, which would also be helpful to me as a tutor of Biblical studies.
ESL/ESOL
I taught ESL to young adults in Mexico for several weeks while I was staying there, which was a great experience.
Beyond that, I took 4 years of Spanish in high school, as well as an additional year in college.
I recently returned from a trip to Mexico where I learned and taught songs in Spanish, as well as spoke with the Mexican teenagers/young adults.
My Spanish background makes me a great candidate to teach ESL to Spanish-speaking students, because I will be able to understand their questions even when they can't voice them in English.
My studies in college (Intercultural Studies) have taught me to be sensitive to other cultures and languages, and to find ways to communicate when there is a language barrier.
My wife and I are currently involved with a couple Burmese refugee families in a local apartment complex. We are doing our best to learn to communicate with them as we help them get acclimated to life in the United States.
