Hi! My name is Isabel I am 18 years old and I am currently entering my sophomore year at Ithaca College. I was a biology major for the first semester of my freshmen year, but I changed to psychology. I love both subjects. I have a very good GPA in college. I see myself as a counselor for teenage students in the future.
I am a very musical person. Flute is my main instrument. I also play alto sax and mallets. In high school I participated in music competitions individually and with the marching band. I am in the American Legion Marching Band. We play in parades during the summer. I love music, it is one of my passions. Since music is a huge passion of mine, I began teaching music to elementary students in my junior year of high school. During my senior year I continued to teach students music. I teach by trying not to give away all of the answers. For example when I am teaching a new piece of music to my student I will have them name the note letters then clap out the rhythm. That way the student is, in a way, teaching themselves.
I am very friendly and patient. When a student makes a mistake, I know they will learn from it. I like to make lessons fun, because the more fun a lesson, the more a student enjoys learning.
I have the basic knowledge to teach middle or high school psychology. I am fascinated by psychology and I would love to tutor this subject. I tutor by engaging students in the lesson and applying lessons to everyday life. My music students I was more than just a teach, I was a friend and mentor as well. |

Music is a major part of my life. I have been playing flute since I was in 4th grade. I participated in NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) evaluations from 6th grade to 11th grade. I never received anything below 92 out of 100 on a musical piece. In 11th grade I played the highest level (level 6) and I received a 97. In high school I was heavily involved with the concert and marching band. I played flute in concert band and mallets in marching band. My grade for band class has been A+ in high school and college. I became section leader of the mallets and flute for two years during high school. In college I became involved with flute ensemble and the All-Campus Band. I am a soloist in all campus band, sitting second chair first row. In high school I played flute for talent shows and special events.
I began teaching flute, alto sax and mallets during my junior year. Only one of my students didn't succeed. It was because she was involved with sports more than music. All my other students were loving music so much more. They would be very engaged in my lessons and they excelled in music.
I love music. Every time I pick up my flute to play I am creating art.
