I truly believe that I am well-versed in many subjects and can help students of any age learn in multiple categories of knowledge and skill. In addition to having a 4.0 GPA in high school and maintaining a 3.93 through my first two years at Gonzaga University, I love playing sports, especially basketball and running. I lettered in Cross Country, Basketball, and Track and Field all four years of high school and continue to play every intramural sport available at Gonzaga including Ultimate Frisbee, Flag Football, and Soccer. (But my favorite is basketball) I enjoy lots of subjects in school, which makes picking a career kind of hard. I chose sport management because I will get to be around sports, my main passion, while taking advantage of my organizational and leadership skills. However, I also like subjects such as math, history, philosophy, politics, and many more. I am currently a tutor in the athletic department of Gonzaga: I helped two students last semester with their Philosophy coursework. Over the years, I have only received positive feedback from people that I have worked with. I like to engage the students that I tutor while drawing the answers out of them. Keeping a solid study schedule and maintaining contact with teachers/professors is key. I am a very friendly, knowledgeable, and accessible person, which makes me a pretty solid tutor. |

I first learned to dribble a basketball when I was two years old while attending the Washington state basketball tournament as my dad coached the Ilwaco Fishermen to the championship game. Ever since then I have maintained my passion for basketball, playing on little league, middle school, and high school teams. I lettered at Ilwaco all four years of high school while starting as a guard my last three years. We placed 7th at state my freshman year and made it to the third round my senior year when I was the second leading scorer on our team and made All-League second team. I was the fourth highest scorer at the state tournament that year. I continue to play basketball on a weekly basis and I was the captain of three intramural teams at Gonzaga last year. I am a completely ambidextrous player who knows all about shooting, dribbling, and other individual techniques. I also have taken classes on officiating and know a great deal about offensive/defensive strategy. I am an avid college basketball and NBA fan. Basketball is by far my favorite sport, which helps qualify me as a suitable tutor.

grammar
|
I have demonstrated solid skills in grammar over the years by passing all the necessary English classes. I remember excelling in grammar during my sophomore year of high school when we studied the subject in depth. I know the difference between many terms including: nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions, gerunds, participles, infinitives, etc. I got A’s in all my high school English classes, and I got an A- in English 101 and a B+ in English 102 at GU, both under very challenging professors. I was editor-in-chief of my high school newspaper, which required an extensive knowledge of grammar so that I could sufficiently proofread my peers’ articles.

track & field
|
Ever since the fourth grade, I have loved running. I looked forward to Monday mile runs and went to Junior National running events with the Rain City Flyers out of Seattle. I joined the middle school Cross Country team at Ilwaco my seventh grade and proceeded to do Cross Country and Track through my next six years. In track and field I specialized in middle distance events, winning the 400 and 4x400 meter relay and league my 8th grade year. In high school, our 4x400 meter team broke the school record with a time of 3:28 my freshman year. My junior and senior year, I won the 800m at the District championships and was on the winning 4x400 meter relay team for Ilwaco. I placed 3rd and 7th at state in the 800m and 7th and 6th in the 4x400 during my junior and senior seasons. I was captain of the track team at Ilwaco during my last two years of high school and found myself largely responsible for things like relay hand-offs, team stretches, and other organizational matters. In addition to my specialized events, I also have experience in sprints, long distance, long jump, and high jump. I love track and field and other types of long distance running. I would have continued with the sport, but injuries prevented me from doing track and field at Gonzaga my first two years. However, I am planning on trying to walk-on to the team this next spring. If I had the opportunity to tutor people in track and field, I could help them with their running technique, diet, and specialized needs like relay strategy and block starts. Three years of running camps and having my dad as my Cross Country/Track and Field coach in high school has given me a wealth of knowledge at my finger tips. I enjoy watching college/professional track and field. I even attended the Preclassic last year in Eugene, OR. All in all, I think that I could help someone with any of their track and field needs.
