About
Ruslan: |
|
I'm a college student pursuing a double major in Mechanical Engineering and Business at Caltech. I just finished my sophomore year and I'm back in Sacramento for the summer. I attended Mira Loma High School where I received the IB diploma.
Over the previous school year I worked as a weekly tutor for a seventh grader in a variety of subjects - math, Spanish, literature, and science.
I've always enjoyed learning and helping others learn. When tutoring I like to stress concepts over rote memorization so students understand the "why", not just the "how".
I like tutoring in math and physics since those are my favorite subjects and the ones in which I have the most experience. I received a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam my junior year. I've studied differential equations, statistics & probability, multivariable calculus, and linear algebra in college, but I can tutor any level of math.
Apart from math and science I can also tutor Spanish. I took 6 years of Spanish from middle to high school and received a 7 on the IB Spanish exam. I also took a Spanish literature class in college which required reading, writing, and discussion entirely in Spanish. |

Ruslan's Experience:
differential equations
|
I began learning differential equations in high school where I went over the basics (integrating factors, etc.) to prepare for the IB Further Level Exam.
At Caltech, I completed the required Math 2 Differential Equations course which covers the important methods for solving ordinary differential equations.
I've also completed ACM 95b and 95c which teach more advanced ordinary differential equation methods and partial differential equations, respectively.

statistics
|
I was introduced to essential statistics (hypothesis testing, distributions) in high school in preparation for the IB Further Level exam.
At Caltech I completed the required Statistics course which taught: random variables, distributions, densities, normal & Poisson approximations, estimation of unknown parameter values, testing statistical hypotheses, confidence intervals, and linear regression.
