Learn More About Mary's Experience:

elementary (k-6th) I have my Bachelors degree in teaching dance. I got my teaching credential in San Francisco and am now certified to teach in Rhode Island; both in elementary education and for ESL populations. I have been a teacher for 10 years. The first year and a half of my teaching experience was teaching dance to middle school boys and girls. I have taught kindergarten through 3rd grades in reading, math, social studies, science, and writing. For the last 6 years I have taught ESL students. I love helping my students make a book from a story that they write. I enjoy watching a student start to understand the mechanics of putting sounds together to make words. Math is everywhere and can be such a help in every day things. I really enjoy working with children from kindergarten through 3rd or 4th grade. ESL/ESOL I am certified in Rhode Island to teach ESL students. This is especially interesting because of all the varied backgrounds that come together in one class. Learning to socialize with a diverse group of students is a wonderful way to learn and grow as people and essential for everyone in their life's journey. Our country has such a wonderful mixure of cultures from which to learn and experience life. I feel lucky to have such a rich experience teaching students from cultures and places all over the world.
