I am an individual that believes in differentiation. I believe that one-on-one contact between a student and myself along with collaboration with the parents is the best way to achieve academic success. According to Howard Gardner in Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligence, children learn through one of eight ways: linguistic, musical, logical math, spacial, bodily kinesthetics, interpersonal, interpersonal, and naturalist. It is my belief that each individual person learns through one of these eight ways. As your tutor, it is my job to determine which of these ways you, the student, learns in and use methods from that technique to help you to achieve your highest level.
I obtained an associate of science and a degree in surgical technology. After working in surgery for five years, I have decided to pursue my dream of becoming a middle school math and science teacher. I, also, worked at a local elementary school doing remedial reading. My goal was to have the children up to their age appropriate reading level and beyond by the end of the school year.
Having two young girls has helped me learn patience and how to teach in an encouraging way. By being a parent I have acquired the ability to understand children's needs and help them to achieve their goals.
