ACT Having taken the test just 2-3 years ago myself, I have a good understanding of the ACT test and the required strategies. I'm familiar with the practive exam books, but I can also offer advice based on personal experience on how to best approach the exam. I understand that personal comfort levels in test-taking situations vary, and I will focus on not only the subjects and study skills, but also how to prepare mentally for the best possible results. ESL/ESOL The ESL program is something I benefited from personally, and this gives me great understanding, patience, and passion as a teacher. I learned the English language starting at age 10. I was assigned ESL teachers to help me until my graduation from the program in three years, with proficiency in conversation, as well as a solid foundation in grammar. I continued to study grammar, vocabulary, and writing, and today I consider myself fluent in the English language. I'm familiar with various teaching methods of ESL (or ELL), including traditional book-based instruction, listening exercises, fluency and accent training, and idioms/colloquial expressions. I've taught both by providing study materials and by following my client's suggestions and requests. Japanese My native language is Japanese, but I am equally fluent in English. I have a love of languages in general, and I teach with patience and thoroughness. I have experience in giving basic instruction to beginning Japanese learners, both in speech and in reading/writing. My teaching style is casual but effective, centering around core rules to simplify the language for beginners, but I will also provide thorough explanations and clarifications, for better understanding and retention. I'd be happy to just be a conversation partner also, for those who are intermediate to advanced -- I enjoy discussion Japanese culture and believe that it has strong connections to the language.
