I am a rising senior at the University of Pennsylvania. In high school I was at the top of my class and scored 800 on the Math, Critical Reading, and Writing sections of the SAT. I am currently majoring in international relations and economics, and minoring in psychology. I expect to graduate summa cum laude next spring. In the future, I am planning on attending law school and hopefully working for the Peace Corps in Western Africa.
I have a lot of experience working with children of all ages. I have volunteered to work with underprivileged toddlers in a Delaware program, as well as intercity Philadelphia elementary school and high school kids. I have been a camp counselor at a local Chinese school's summer camp for the past two years, and last semester I taught an SAT class of about 10 students.
When I teach, the thing I emphasize the most is participation. I try to make lessons very interactive and adapt material to best suit each student. I believe that students are much more likely to succeed when they are interested in what they are learning; I really try to understand their specific needs and make them comfortable.
