About Adam:

Thank you for your interest in acquiring a creative and effective tutor. In June 2008 I finished my 6th year at the Gloucestery County Institute of Technology as an English Instructor. During this time, I have taught all levels of students from freshmen to seniors. Aside from teaching, I have served as a personal tutor for English, Mathematics, and general study skills, as well as a tutor for guitar and tennis, two areas that I am well-versed in (15 years each). I graduated from Rowan University Magna Cum Laude in Spring 2001 with a Bachelor's Degree in English. The following Fall I earned a 4.0 in my student teaching assignment for my Secondary Education Certification. If you are interested in advancing your understanding, awareness, competency, and proficiency in any of my fields of expertise, you will not be disappointed. Thank you for your time.

More On Adam's Subjects:

  • GED

I have served as a Youth One Stop Instructor where my main responsibilities were teaching and assisting students who were in the process of completing course work to earn their GED. I have also administered and monitored GED practice and simulation tests, an area that I am very comfortable with.

  • grammar

In September 2008 I will begin my 7th year as an English Instructor at GCIT. Through teaching all levels of high school English, I have become proficient with grammar instruction. Although grammar is not considered "fun," I have developed creative lessons that engage students and maintain their level of interest.

  • guitar

I have been playing guitar for 15 years, 10 years intensively. My experience includes playing gigs in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area as a band member and musician for hire. I have recorded on several different albums and am well-versed in scales, chords, theory, soloing, and composition.

  • proofreading

As a 7th year English Instructor, I have had extensive experience with proofreading various types of papers ranging from essays (narrative, persuasive, descriptive, expository) to research papers to creative writing assignments. I have also developed strategies and skills for students to practice and develop so that they may hone their own proofreading capacities.

  • tennis

Tennis is my specialized sport of interest. I have been an active player for 17 years. Recently, I won the Gloucester County Men's Open Singles tournament held at Atkinson Park in Sewell, NJ on May 7th. I have served as both a volunteer and paid assistant coach for the Boys Varsity Tennis Team at GCIT for the past 6 years, as well as a volunteer assitant coach for the Girls Varsity Tennis Team. Currently (Summer 2008) I am playing in the South Jersey Men's League for the Williamstown team; this league is highly competitive with some former state champions and USTA ranked players.
