About Sai:

Hi and thanks for considering me to be your tutor! I have lived in Jacksonville for 2 years now, and am going to start my 3rd year of law school in the fall. Before law school, I graduated cum laude from the University of Florida in Gainesville where I double majored in Criminology and Anthropology. I went to Suncoast High School in Riviera Beach where I was enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program and received an IB diploma. I began tutoring as a volunteer with the Boys and Girls Club of Gainesville, and later I began tutoring students in their homes as part of the No Child Left Behind program in 2006. I began private in-home tutoring later that year in Jacksonville, and have continued to do so since then. I have tutored students from Kindergarten to 5th grade in various areas of math and language arts. My teaching philosophy is similar to my philosophy on life: treat others as you would have them treat you. I will patiently do everything possible to help a student understand the material. I will employ various methods such as incorporating a student's interests into the lesson, or showing the material's real world applications. I find that this helps a student develop a fuller understanding of the subject matter. As a result, I expect students to put forth a genuine effort to learn the material. Students should not just hastily complete homework, but should try their best to check it for accuracy. I also like to encourage students to ask as many questions as they need to, and to also make note of any questions that arise outside of tutoring sessions so that we can fill in as many gaps in the student's understanding as possible.
