I presently live in Gainesboro, TN (about 20 minutes from Cookeville, TN). I have taught school for approximately 18 years. I have taught in the private and public school setting, however, most of my career has been in the public school system. My certification is in elementary education, so I have taught all academic subjects for the elementary grades (K-6). My specialty is teaching reading phonetically, reading fluency and comprehension, and combining it with writing activities to enhance the learner. Additionally, I have tutored for several years from kindergarten age children to 9th graders.
The style of learning I use is to teach according to the way the student learns and to incorporate all learning styles if needed. Other ways of learning to consider are the individual talents and needs of each child - some are more creative, some more verbally fluent, do they need more freedom to work or should they be more disciplined, do they need more reinforcement and encouragement to succeed, are they musical, artistic, athletic, or a scholar of scholars, are they full of energy and need to move alot while learning etc.? There are so many factors to take into consideration when teaching one child or a classroom of children. |

I am certified to teach in the elementary grades and have done so for over 18 years. I have attained the status of "highly qualified" in the state of TN. My tutoring experience consists of about 10 years covering grades kindergarten through 9th grade.

horseback riding

I have been an equestrian for over 40 years (began riding when I was 8 years old). When I was younger, I hunted and showed in equitation classes and hunter/jumper classes. I have also worked for a large Arabian stable in Eads, TN where I rode for the owners. Currently, I own 3 horses, one of which I am training. These days, I ride purely for enjoyment.
