elementary (k-6th) I am certified by the State of Michigan to teach kindergarten - 5th Grade. I am also certified to teach in a self-contained emotionally impaired classroom. I have taught 4th grade for three years, and am about to enter my 4th year of teaching in this area. Additionally, I have also taught in a self-contained 4th-5th grade classroom for students with severe learning disabilities and emotional impairements. I have been highly successful with a variety of students, including those with learning difficulties and/or behavioral issues. I enjoy teaching immensely, and look forward to helping others. special needs Upon entering Michigan State University, I decided to pursue a degree in Special Education. In addition to becoming certifed to teaching k-5, I became certified to teach students with emotional impairments while achieving high honors at the University. Initially, I did not directly use my special education certification, instead I taught in a 4th grade general education classroom. After three years, I was given the opportunity to teach in a self-contained severely learning disabled/emotionally impaired 4th-5th grade classroom. I have found that my four years of experience in this classroom has given me a set of essential experiences for helping all students to learn. Teaching in this classroom has helped me to focus my learning objectives and target my assessments while scaffolding lessons to assure student success.
