I am a NYS certified elementary teacher for grades one through six with a Masters degree in childhood education from St. John Fisher. I also have a strong background in biology from my undergraduate degree. Learning should be fun, and I try my hardest to make my lessons enjoyable for all students to increase their learning.
Each student is unique, and I tailor my tutoring and teaching methods to best meet the learning styles of my students. Are you someone who learns best by doing? Let's study fractions by cutting up a pie, pizza, or a loaf of bread. Do you learn best visually? Then let's study the names of all 50 states and capitals by looking at maps, postcards, and books.
I have experience preparing students for the NYS 5th grade Social Studies exam - and I assisted in the scoring of the 2007 exam, so I know what is looked for in the short answer questions and essay. I am knowledgeable about test strategies and test-taking skills to help you succeed on classroom exams and standardized tests.
