ESL/ESOL I have a BA degree in Linguistics and have taken several classes which have given me the knowledge of how language works and how one should go about learning a second language. I have sufficient knowledge in the English language, I am a native speaker and have scored highly on all of my exams in the subject. I am going to teach ESL overseas in the next year and also obtain my official ESL teaching certificate in the next few months. I have an extensive knowledge of Spanish. My mother is a native speaker and I have taken 7 years of Spanish classes from high school level through graduate level. This enables me to make meaningful connections to the spanish-speaking student in order to accel their learning process and increase their understanding of both of the languages. I am also at an intermediate level of Portuguese and can help any speaker to learn English as well. Basically, my Linguistics degree has enabled me to pick out generalities and commonalities throughout languages, and to break down the elements of grammar and vocabulary so I know the most efficient way to help the student with areas in which they are lacking.
