After receiving my B.A. in Psychology with a focus on English Literature from Lewis and Clark College, I decided to attend U of O for Pre-Medical education. Over that last two years I have completed basic and advanced coursework in chemistry, biology, physics, and neuroscience, as well as additional literature and math coursework.
During my time at U of O, I taught an unlikely seminar for third grade children on basic genetics (a difficult subject for such a young age). The class was quite successful, with many children and parents reporting that they enjoyed the lesson and demonstrating that they truly understood new basic science concepts.
After the success of this seminar for children, I accepted an invitation from my professor to tutor college age students in a class titled "Biology 212: Organisms." I helped many students improve their grades in this notoriously difficult course, and was asked to hold additional private and group tutoring sessions, as well as large-group (100+) seminars.
My skill in teaching probably springs from my own past as a struggling student who became successful during college. I understand how to communicate clearly with people of various levels of competency. It is both a pleasure and a thrill to help others learn, and I invite you to contact me about potentially helping you or your children in my subject areas. See you soon!
