Let me first start off my telling you a little about myself. I'm 23 years old and go to school at Old Dominion University. I'm a junior, majoring in Mechanical Engineering with minors in Motorsports and Physics. My coursework can be rather difficult, and in the past I've needed help with classwork. When I couldn't get the help I needed from profs I've turned to tutors, where I've had my share of good ones and bad ones. So I've definitely learned the in's and out's of what works when it comes to passing along knowledge. I'm very outgoing and in my spare time I try to be outside as much as possible. Flying airplanes and mountain biking are probably my most favorite hobbies. I'm very laid back but strict so that the energy that is invested in learning is paid off. I can be goofy, but there is also a time for seriousness. Being the oldest of four siblings and growing up in a single-parent home, I use to help my younger siblings with school, where I first built my experience as a tutor. In high school, I was also apart of a tutoring program where I would travel to local elementary and middle schools to help students out. I also coached soccer through the YMCA and Boy's and Girl's Club for four years. I don't have a direct teaching style. I have found that it varies with each person I tutor. What is most important to me, is that you feel comfortable and that your having fun while learning. Even though, my career aspirations are directed towards a job in the engineering industry, the fact that I can help some one better themselves brings joy to my life. Thanks! |
