About Vaughan:

I am a soon to be graduating senior at Mills College in Oakland California, where I am majoring in English and minoring in Music(violin performance). Having spent 13 years growing up in Berlin, Germany as the daughter of an opera singer, I have had a diverse educational background, as well as international violin training. I graduated from High School in New Rochelle, N.Y, where in the year 2003 I made my debut at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall performing the Bach Double Concerto for two Violins. I have also performed with numerous N.Y state orchestras, the Howard University Chamber Orchestra, and the Mills College Chamber Ensemble. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree from Mills College. I have studied under dynamic professors in the English field and have taken courses that range from American Lit.I/II to Poetry Workshop I/II.
I look forward to meeting you and hope to pass on the knowledge that I have so far acquired in my fields of study, and know that I will benefit from learning from you with this tutoring experience as well.
(Please see my resume for details)
Thank you,

Vaughan

My experience with the violin is as follows: I began playing when I was 3 years old.At the time I was living in Berlin, Germany so my teachers came from all over Europe.Once I moved back to the states in 2000, I was a member of the New Rochelle High School Orchestra, during which I performed the Bach Double Concerto in D,at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall and had concerts at the German Consulate in NYC.I auditioned for and participated in the New York Area-All State Orchestra for which I was the concertmaster, and the New York All State Orchestra which performed at the Eastman School of Music. During this time I was also a volunteer violin teacher for elementary school children with a program called Songcatchers. During my time in college I have played with the Howard University Orchestra, and the Mills College Baroque Music Ensemble. I continue to study the violin as well as teach, as being able to instruct as well as perform brings incredible insight, and I love contributing to a form of instrumental musical expression that has been the center of my life thus far.
