About Yekaterina:

I am a recent graduate of UC Davis. My major was biology with an emphasis in Neurobiology, physiology and behavior. I worked as an AVID tutor for three years for the Roseville High School District in Roseville, CA. I tutored all subjects from English 9 to AP Calculus. I am comfortable tutoring all subjects grades K-12 but I do possess more knowledge about math, science and health-related topics as I am getting ready to go into the nursing program. I am fluent in both Russian and Ukrainian although English is my primary language. My tutoring style is based on the AVID program, which means that my goal is to help the student work through the problem to find the answer, rather than just handing the answer over. I am patient and try to explain things in several different forms to help the student understand.

More On Yekaterina's Subjects:

  • anatomy

I took anatomy for the first time when I was in high school and get an A in the class. Then, as a pre-medical school student as UC Davis, anatomy was covered in many different forms throughout my classes. when applying to nursing school I found out that I needed to take anatomy again and took a college class in anatomy in the summer of 2007. I have also volunteered at Sutter hospitals and had hands on practice using anatomy. Recently, I took a medical terminology class which again covered anatomy extensively.

  • physical science

My major in college was biology but as part of the curriculum, we cover a lot of physical science, including physics. I took honors physics in high school and then took a three semester physics class series in college. I have tutored high school students in both regular , honors and AP physics.

  • physiology

I took physiology in high school for the first time. At UC Davis, my major was biology but with an emphasis on neurobiology and physiology. As part of my curriculum, I was required to take classes that covered human physiology extensively. I have also taken a class in pathophysiology (the physiology of human diseases). I have used all of this information on a daily basis volunteering at Sutter hospitals and working as a medical interpreter. I also tutored high school students in both anatomy and physiology.
